In a recent update, the Information and Public Relations Minister (IPR) Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh has assured full cooperation to the media fraternity in the State. While the Minister made the assurance at the official launch of a English daily ‘The Morning Bell at its Thangal Bazar office today.
The Minister said that even though a report or a news can be shared very fast through the social media today, the newspaper is still where the public can verify and confirm the reports to be genuine.
He urged the editor and staff of the daily to maintain accuracy in their news report. Further stressing on the importance of maintaining accuracy in filing one’s report, he said a newspaper or a news agency’s credibility will improve and also gain popularity with masses if they continue to make their reports accurate.
He said that accurate news will also mean improving quality of the media house which will eventually improve business.
Recognizing the role of a reporter in shaping the society, the Minister promised all possible welfare measures/ benefits for the journalists fraternity.
Further observing that media persons have a set of ethics to follow, the Minister continued that media houses should also ensure that their staff are following the set ethics as any unscrupulous individual acting as a media person and abusing the powers vested to a reporter can also bring down the media house.
The IPR Minister further wished the newly launched daily all the best in their endeavor.
