For the second consecutive day, Manipur remains shut due to the ‘Naga Issue’ as the Co-ordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has set November 4 as the deadline to reveal the details of the Indo-Naga talks.
The security has beefed up across the state after thousands of people hit the street in Imphal on Thursday night.

The Centre is yet to make any formal announcements on the conclusion of the Naga Peace Talks. However, on Thursday, it assured to consult with all the stakeholders including Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh before any settlement is arrived at with Naga groups.
The government in a communique stated, “It has come to notice of the Government that lots of rumours and misinformation are being spread in media including social media that final Naga settlement has been arrived at and will be announced soon. This is creating anxiety and concern in some parts of the country.”
COCOMI is a joint body of major civil society organizations of the State. The group called for a protest in order to highlight the need to safeguard the Manipur’s interests and territory.
It may be mentioned here that COCOMI has initiated a slew of protests following the Naga Peace Talks. Government and private offices, educational institutions, markets, shops, and business establishments remained closed and set the deadline of Nov 4.

On Thursday, COCOMI’s General Secretary Khuraijam Athouba informed that the organisation would extend its protest after reports of the Naga peace talks concluded on a positive note.
