North-East India records high voter turnout in polls

Guwahati, April 11, 2019:

North East India has recorded high voter turnouts in the Phase-I of the Lok Sabha elections which were held in 91 Lok Sabha elections across the nation.

The people of North East belonging to the 'seven sister' states (Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura) and the ‘one brother’ Sikkim came out in droves to exercise their democratic rights and mark out a clear message regarding its political importance to the rest of the country.

In the latest updates as of 5 pm, the voter turnouts are as follows:

Assam- 71%

Meghalaya- 67%

West Tripura- 77%

Outer Manipur- 78%

Mizoram – 61%

Nagaland- 73%

Sikkim- 67%
