Opium Worth Rs 50 Lakh Seized In Manipur

Jiribam, June 30, 2019:

Based on the reliable inputs, a team of the Anti Drug Cell of Jiribam and police carried out a search operation at an area near Chandrapur Oil Pump. In the search operation, the team seized 20 kgs of opium worth Rs. 50,00,000 and apprehended two persons in relation to the case.

The drugs were seized from a Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire bearing registration number MN01S-6274.

The accused has been identified as Montes Prashad, and Manoj Kumar Gupta, who are both residents of Bihar.

On interrogation, the duo revealed that the opium was delivered to them by a person from Kangpoki and being transported to Silchar.

Further investigation is on.

It is to be mentioned that a youth was arrested on the charge of unauthorized possession of contraband opium in six packets in Manipur on Friday by a team of the Civil Defence Organization (CDO) of Manipur’s Thoubal district.
