Rs 7.33 crores seized in North-East before Phase-II of election

Guwahati, April 17, 2019:

The Income Tax department has seized more than Rs. 7.33 crores from the seven North Eastern States ahead of the phase-II of Lok Sabha Elections, as informed by the officials of Directorate of Investigation of Income Tax department.

The IT Department has directed the banks to report the Investigation Wing of the department on all deposits and withdrawals above Rs. 10 lakhs.

The Department has intensified its inquiry to monitor money transactions in the general election in collaboration with the police, CISF, banks and several other government agencies in collaboration with the banks, police, CISF, and several other government agencies to counter the flow of black money.

The IT department also informed that it has been monitoring the choppers and charter planes used by the political parties during campaigning.
