MANIPUR GIRL SANJITA CHANU CLINCHES SECOND GOLD MEDAL FOR INDIA

Weightlifter Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu won the second gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast City, Australia. Chanu hails from Manipur. She earlier won gold medal in the women's 48 kg weight class in 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow. In the clean & jerk, Sanjita moved into gold medal position with lifts of 104 kg and 108 kg.

Sanjita Chanu received a gold after Mirabai Chanu won gold in the women’s 48 kg with and 196 kg. She marked a spot at the 2018 CWG. She adorned a gold medal in the women's 53kg with a total lift of 195 kg (85kg+110kg) at the Commonwealth Senior (men and women) Weightlifting Championships.
