UNLF cadre nabbed by security forces in Imphal East

IMPHAL: Security Forces and Manipur Police jointly apprehended a hardcore insurgent of the proscribed insurgent group United National Liberation Front (UNLF) on December 17 near Yaralpat area of Imphal East, officials said.

Based on specific inputs, Security Forces along with Police launched an operation and apprehended a Self-Styled Captain, who is the Area Commander of Imphal East of proscribed group UNLF.

Two AK-56 Rifles, one 9mm Pistol Beretta, one point 38 Pistol, 143 rounds of AK-56, 10 rounds of 9mm Pistol, and nine rounds of .38 Pistol were recovered from the UNLF 'Captain'.

"In addition, bomb-making materials consisting of three electronic circuits, two dry cell batteries, one remote control device, and a four-meter-long wire were also recovered," informed officials.

The apprehended UNLF insurgent along with the recovered items was handed over to Porompat police station for further investigation.
