Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tendered his resignation to the Governor citing his commitment to the well-being of the state and its people.
This announcement was made by Manipur BJP President A Sharda Devi, who emphasized that the resignation was made in the interest of the state’s future and stability.
"Our CM has resigned for the people of the state. He has also requested the Central Government to safeguard the integrity of Manipur and ensure the safety of its citizens. His decision was taken with the state’s future in mind," said Sharda Devi.
She further clarified that there were no internal differences among BJP MLAs, reinforcing that Biren Singh’s decision was purely aimed at restoring peace in Manipur. The Chief Minister has urged the Centre to take necessary measures to protect the people and maintain law and order in the region.

The resignation comes amid ongoing concerns regarding security and governance in the state. Political analysts believe that Biren Singh’s move reflects a strategic decision to allow new leadership to navigate the challenges facing Manipur.
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Sunday revoked the scheduled Assembly session, which was set to commence on February 10. The decision came just hours after Chief Minister N Biren Singh tendered his resignation.
In an official notification, the Governor declared that the previous order issued on January 24, which had scheduled the session, was now rendered "null and void." The cancellation follows growing political uncertainty in the state, where the incumbent BJP-led government is under pressure amid a possible no-confidence motion and a floor test by the Congress-led Opposition.
Further developments on the state's political scenario and the appointment of a new Chief Minister are awaited.
