Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on December 30 while condemning the violent attack on a village volunteer at Imphal West district said that few evil elements are trying to disrupt the peace in the state.
"The case is under investigation. Combing operation is on. Several civil societies, Meira Paibis and organisations are trying hard to restore peace in the state. But this fresh incident is highly condemnable. Let us come to a negotiation and hold dialogue and resolve the issues in an amicable way and restore peace in the state", said N Biren Singh while addressing a press conference on December 30.
The state of Manipur was again rattled by a fresh incident of violence, after a 35-year-old village volunteer was killed by armed militants in the wee hours of December 30. As per a reliable source, the incident took place when suspected Kuki armed militants allegedly attacked Kadangband Part 2 under Imphal West district at around 3.30 am.
The deceased person is identified as Jamesbond Ningombam from Mayang Lamgjing. At present dead body was brought to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem.
