In response to escalating tensions in Manipur, authorities have imposed a curfew in Imphal West and Imphal East to maintain law and order situation.
Streets of Imphal saw sparse vehicle movement as security forces were deployed, with heightened security measures outside the Chief Minister’s residence and the Raj Bhavan.
The move follows an incident on the evening of November 17, when a large mob attempted to storm the ancestral residence of MLA Kongkham Robindro in Mayang, Imphal. Security forces intervened, preventing the crowd from advancing further.
Currently, the situation remains calm in Imphal and surrounding valley areas. A robust security presence is evident, with army and CRPF personnel conducting flag marches throughout Imphal city to maintain order.
