Manipur: Fresh violence breaks out after armed miscreants launch attack in Imphal East

Fresh incident of violence broke out on February 7 after armed miscreants launched attack at Itham Moirang Purel under Imphal East district this morning. 

A day after armed miscreants with sophisticated weapons carried out attack at Tumukhong under Imphal East district yesterday, one suspected armed group again launched an attack using sophisticated weapons at neighbouring village Itham Moirang Purel this morning at around 3.10 am.

As per sources, armed miscreants targeted village defence volunteers and security forces in wee hour of February 7. The attacked had provoked security forces to retaliate them. The firing continue for sometime. However no casualty is reported.

It may be mentioned that heavily armed miscreants reportedly came down from the hill of Molham Kuki Village towards sand mining area located in between Nongdam Tangkhul and Tumukhong Meetei Village yesterday. 

The armed group had allegedly fired indiscriminately towards those engaged in mining and sand. The number of innocent sand miners had narrowly escaped from attacked.
