After fresh tension erupted in Moreh town on July 26 morning, displaced victims of Moreh and Churachandpur took out a protest rally condemning the incident that occurred in the town.
A group of affected victims of the ongoing crisis, who are presently taking shelter in the relief camp of Ideal Girl College Akampat, under Imphal East district came out to the street and carried out a protest rally with play-card that read “Stop narco-terrorist act”, “Go Back Assam Rifles”, Please save us Modiji”, “We don’t believe Assam Rifles”, “Stop burning Manipur by Kuki”, “No separate administration” etc.
During the rally, protestors with heavy hearts raise various slogans such as ''Long Live Manipur'', ''We oppose separate administration'', ''We condemn narco-terrorism act'' etc.
Addressing the media at the sidelines of the protest, N Samananda, a displaced victim from Moreh, said, '' Present crisis has completed almost three months but instead of restoring peace, fresh arson is being erupted in Moreh which is very unfortunate. Today’s arson happened just in front of security forces. There is no point in deploying central forces if such violence is going to continue unabatedly''.
He further said that they are very much satisfied staying in relief yet they would like to return to home town, adding, ''The state government should take up an appropriate measure to send them back their original home by providing adequate state security forces''.
''Central forces are siding and protecting only the Kuki group. They are no longer trust to central forces,'' he added.
Demanding to arrest the person, who is involved in today’s arson at the earliest, he said that the state government usually took prompt action against protestors, who carried out agitation in Imphal Valley.
''Likewise, they should also take swift action to those people who were part of the attack in hill areas,'' he avowed.
