Amit Shah invites Meghalaya orgs demanding ILP to New Delhi for 'talks'

SHILLONG: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has invited the organizations of Meghalaya who are demanding the implementation of the Inner Line Permit in the state to protect the identity and rights of the indigenous people, to visit the Parliament to discuss the same.

 

After the chief minister Conrad K Sangma reminded Amit Shah about the organizations from Meghalaya who wanted to meet him during his recent visit to Shillong but failed to meet him due to time constraint, the Home Minister said, “they should come to the Parliament to discuss the same.”

 

CM Sangma also informed that Shah has will be undertaking a two-day visit to Shillong to discuss the revamping of the North Eastern Council (NEC) and has also hinted that he is open to holding talks with the aforementioned organisations during the visit.

It needs mention here that Shah was unable to give adequate to the cabinet ministers and leaders and organisations who wanted to meet him and discuss various issues.

 

"Shah said that he will do everything to ensure the safeguarding of the culture, identity, and language of the people of Meghalaya and the North East is safeguarded at all costs," Sangma said.
