BSF jawan molests minor, arrested

The police on Thursday arrested a BSF jawan for allegedly molesting a minor girl at Chiehruphi village in East Jaintia Hills district. The accused has been identified as Dipankar Ghosh.

According to reports, the incident took place around 10 pm when the accused stationed at Meghalaya Cement Limited complex came to the shop run by the victim’s sister near the complex’s gate at Chiehruphi and molested her when she was going to the toilet.

Hearing her screams, her sister came to her rescue and saw a uniformed man running towards the cement company’s complex and entering it.

Having identified the jawan, the police later arrested him. He has been booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
