Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 28, 2018:

Barely a day after five-time MLA MM Danggo had to bite the dust at the Ranikor by-poll, whose result was declared on Monday, reports have now emerged that an FIR was filed against his son John Jingjang R Marak Danggo in the run-up to the by-election.

Danggo, former Speaker of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, had contested the Ranikor by-poll unsuccessfully on a National People’s Party ticket.

According to reports, one Nitai Hajong filed an FIR alleging that around 8 pm on 21st, John conducted an excise raid in his house. The junior Danggo, who works with the Excise Department, was accompanied by BSF and police personnel, the complainant alleged.

However, John lodged a counter-complaint with the police alleging that around 7 pm the same night some miscreants had threatened his supporters at Wanokchiring village under Khasiadop polling station. Coming to know of the incident, he claimed to have rushed to the spot to enquire about the matter along with two police personnel assigned to his father MM Danggo, adding that the miscreants had left by then.

He, however, alleged that when they were returning via Koraikora village, miscreants pelted stones at their vehicle (ML05 J 8043), damaging its rear pane.

He further claimed that they went to Hajong’s house while chasing the miscreants.
