Meghalaya hikes price limit for VIP vehicles

In a move that may raise many eyebrows, the Conrad Sangma Cabinet has hiked the price cap on vehicles for VIPs in Meghalaya.

Accordingly, Rs 40-lakh ceiling has been put on vehicles for the Governor and Chief Minister, while those of the Deputy Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers and Chief Secretary has been hiked to Rs 20 lakh from the existing Rs 15 lakh.

Likewise, price of vehicles for the Additional Chief secretary, Director General of Police and Principal Secretary will now be capped at Rs 12 lakh from Rs 10 lakh earlier.

The new price limits for vehicles of Secretary, Deputy Commissioner and Inspector General of Police is Rs 9 lakh, Rs 7.5 lakh for heads of departments and Rs 7 lakh for district-level officials.
