Representatives of the Northeast Students’ Union (NESO), the umbrella student organization body took a trip to New Delhi to express their solidarity with the Northeastern delegates camped out in New Delhi.
The delegates, fronted by the ‘man of the hour’ Conrad Sangma, who has been instrumental in opening dialogue with the Centre regarding the scrapping of the Bill, were met by the umbrella student organization at Sangma’s Delhi residence. The NESO delegation comprises of leaders of student organizations Al Assam Students’ Union (AASU), All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Tripura Students’ Federation (TSF), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and All Manipur Students’ Association (AMSU). The leaders met with Sangma and the rest of the delegates to express their gratitude for his efforts to derail the Bill, the fate of which still hangs in the balance in the Rajya Sabha.
It is to be mentioned that the delegates had met with Home Minister Rajnath Singh earlier in the day and Sangma has stated that his response was “positive”.
