TURA: Meghalaya’s ruling National People’s Party (NPP) today released the first list of 16 candidates who will contest the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
The GHADC polls are scheduled for April 9.
The list of candidates, released here, include Albinush R Marak (Siju), Sengbath R Marak (Silkigre), Wenison Ch Marak (Rongrikkimgre), Sengchim N Sangma (Gasuapara), Semford B Sangma (Tura), Sanjip T Sangma (Dengnakpara), Linekar K Sangma (Nogorpara), Premananda Koch (Zikzak), Benedic R Marak (Raksamgre), Dhormonath Ch Sangma (Naguapara), Grahambell A Sangma (Jengjal), Sukharam K Sangma (Rongrong), Dolly K Sangma (Damas), Brilliant R Sangma (Samandagre), Henen R Sangma (Darugre) and Denang T Sangma (Williamnagar).

The other political parties in the fray will be BJP, Congress and United Democratic Party (UDP).
While the Congress has already released its second list of candidates, the BJP and UDP are yet to release a list of candidates.
Regional party UDP has its stronghold in Khasi and Jaintia Hills. It will be looking to open its account in Garo Hills in the autonomous council elections.
