Shillong Chamber Choir to Perform 'Vande Mataram' During Chandrayaan-II Landing

Shillong, September 6, 2019:

Bringing laurels to the State, the members of the Shillong Choir have been chosen to perform the patriotic song, 'Vande Mataram', during the landing of India's Chandrayaan-II while it makes touchdown on the moon.

Neil Nongkynrih, the master of the Shillong Chamber Choir, has composed the piece which will be performed by the Shilliong Chamber Choir.

This was announced by Shillong Chamber Choir member Damon Lyndem. "With great pride and patriotic fervor, the Shillong Chamber Choir is delighted to share the news that the Chandrayaan Mission – 2 will be beamed to billions around the world, and its moon landing will be accompanied by Neil Nongkynrih’s very own Vande Mataram which is sung by the Shillong Chamber Choir", he wrote.

An elated Conrad K Sangma took to Twitter to commend the members of the team on this incredible achievement. The landing of India's multi-crore Chandrayaan-II project, will be beamed to crores across the world, as it will be telecast on channels of international repute such as National Geographic Channel and Star Plus, on Friday. Not only this, it will also be streamed by mobile service Hotstar for those who wish to watch it on-the-go.

It may be mentioned here that with the landing of the Chandrayaan-II on the moon's surface, India will become the first country in the world to explore the moon's Southern Pole.
