Guwahati: An energetic and feisty rendition of A R Rahman's seminal classic, 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' by Esther Hnamte, a 4-year-old from the quaint hills of Mizoram, is steadily climbing up the YouTube charts.
The nation has come together in lauding this tiny Mizo girl with an unshakeable voice who has become an instant sensation on social media. Her powerful voice seems to have become a fixture in Mizoram households, where she seems to have become a matter of great pride and joy.
The video, released on October 25, showcases the beautiful and colourful scenes from Hnamte's homeland. It features just the right mix of ethnic flavours, soaring vocals, and patriotism to grab your attention for its entire duration of 3 minutes and 54 seconds.
It is marked by Esther's powerful vocal delivery as she launches with gusto into the lines immortalized by the musical maestro Rahman.

Towards the climax, Esther's soaring vocals are complemented with guitar riffs that add to the overall musical brilliance that somehow feels polished enough to justify its existence as a cover to a seminal classic.
A Melody Records production with music by Kima Chhangte, Esther's truly unique rendition is here to stay, it seems. Already, the video has racked up a mind-boggling 4.65 lakh views. Response on social media has been largely positive.
Mizoram's Chief Minister Zoramthanga, taking note of tiny Esther's dynamic talent, wrote on Twitter, "Mesmerizing Esther Hnamte, a 4-years-old kid from Lunglei, Mizoram singing. Maa Tujhe Salaam; Vande Mataram."
Later, A R Rahman himself shared the video via his Twitter, along with the caption, "When you are showered with cuteness and love 😊🌹Esther (4 years) ."
Mizoram's pocket-sized powerhouse Esther's iconic performance could be one for the ages. Do you agree?
