Assam-Mizoram border clash: Officers summon each other; FIR against Assam CM

An First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma by the Mizoram Police on charges of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy over the Assam-Mizoram border violence that took place on July 26.

AIZAWL: An First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma by the Mizoram Police on charges of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy over the Assam-Mizoram border violence that took place on July 26.

The case was filed under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including “attempt to murder”, at the Vairengte Police Station in Kolasib district of Mizoram, bordering Cachar in Assam.

Nearly 200 unnamed policemen have been mentioned along with Inspector General, a Deputy Inspector General, a Superintendent of Police. The Cachar district Deputy Commissioner was also included in the list.

Earlier on Friday the Assam police summoned 6  six top Mizoram officials in connection to the Vairengte issue.

Kolasib’s Deputy Commissioner Dr. H. Lalthlangliana, its SP Vanlalfaka Ralte, and Additional SP of Kolasib David JB were among the officials summoned by the neighbouring state.

The other three officials who received summons including Vairengte’s SDO(Civil) C. Lalrempuia, Addl.SP of 1’t lRBn Bruce Kibby, Vairengte’s SDPO Thartea Hrangchal.

The officials will appear before the  investigating officer at Dholai Police station on August 2, as per reports.

Reportedly, all the six have been accused of committing serious crimes including murder, attempt to murder, criminal trespass, etc.
