The Congress in Mizoram has announced the names 36 candidates for the November 28 Assembly elections in the state. The party denied tickets to eight sitting MLAs.
Of the 36 candidates, there are 12 new faces. At least three of them are below the age of 40.
State Congress president and Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla announced the names of candidates on Thursday. The names of the remaining four candidates will be announced later.
The MLAs, who were denied tickets, include Minister R Romawia, former Minister Lalrinmawia Ralte and Deputy Speaker Lalrinawma. Lalhmachhuana, 37, is the youngest of the candidates. He has been issued ticket in place of K Lalrinthanga in the Serlui constituency.
Former Inspector General of Police (IGP), LT Hranghchal, is also among the new faces.
