AIZAWL: One Mizo mother of three children did not even get to hold her newborn baby as she succumbed due to post Covid complications last night at around 9:30 pm at Zoram Medical College.

Reportedly, the deceased 27-year-old woman B. Lallawmzuali's one of the daughters also admitted at Community Covid Care Centre where she is fighting her battle with the deadly virus.

Lallawmzualli tested positive for Covid-19 on May 20 when she was eight months pregnant. Despite her diagnosis, Lallawmzualli was forced to undergo surgery on May 22. Though the operation was successful, due to her critical condition, the hospital forbade her from holding her newborn daughter and put her in ICU and Lallawmzualli had to leave this earth without even getting to hold her baby for once.

Lallawmzuali left a healthy newborn baby girl with two more daughters and a husband behind her. Many wiped their tears knowing this heartbreaking story of the family.

As many as 236 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram on Saturday, pushing the tally in the state to 13,300. Of the fresh cases, Aizawl district accounted the for highest active cases at 2509, followed by Lawngtlai (305), Lunglei (238), Kolasib (155), Serchhip (104), Siaha(44), Saitual (37), Mamit (21), Khawzawl (13) Champhai (10).

Mizoram now has 13300 active COVID-19 cases, while 9,816 people have recovered from the infection.
