AIZAWL: Violent clash between military junta and supporters of the Burmese government-in-exile, National Unity Government, which called for a nationwide uprising on September 7, has started another flux of refugees from Myanmar to Mizoram.

Reportedly, over 150 people have moved across the border in the wake of the military crackdown after the uprising call.

As reported, a fierce gunfight had taken place in Thingsai, the nearest border village in Mizoram's Hnahthial district, between supporters of NUG and the Myanmar army on Friday.

Reports suggest that Myanmar deployed fighters closer to the Mizoram border and bombed some villages on their sides. Videos going viral too. However, there is no word of confirmation from the Mizoram/Myanmar side yet.

NUG is basically formed by the elected legislators who were ousted by the military.

As per locals, around 15 soldiers were killed in the clash who then raided the village and set 36 houses on fire.
