Guwahati, December 15, 2018:

Mizo National Front (MNF) chief Zoramthanga was on Saturday sworn in as Mizoram Chief Minister.

Governor Kummanan Rajasekharan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Zoramthanga at a programme at the Raj Bhavan in state capital Aizawl.

Eleven MLAs of the MNF were also sworn in as Ministers.

A number of dignitaries, which included two-time former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora, attended the ceremony.

This was the third time that Zoramthanga took oath as the CM. He had earlier served in the post twice from 1998-2008.

The MNF had swept the November 28 polls by bagging 26 of the 40 seats to unseat the Congress, which had been in power since 2008 but managed to win just five seats this election. The Zoram People’s Movement had won eight seats. The BJP made an entry into the Christian-majority state by winning one seat.
