The Mizoram Political Science Association (MIPSA) held its Annual Conference and International Seminar today at the Aijal Club in Aizawl, focusing on the pressing theme “Status of Refugees in India: The Rights of Refugees and Their Impact in Society.” The event gathered scholars, legal experts, and policymakers to engage in vital discussions surrounding the ongoing refugee crisis in India.
The seminar was graced by Chief Guest Pu Michael Zothankhuma, Judge of the Guwahati High Court, and was organized in collaboration with the Government Mizoram Law College and the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA), showcasing the interdisciplinary nature of the event. Attendees participated in five technical sessions, presenting research that encompassed legal, social, and political dimensions of the refugee situation.
A total of 24 scholarly papers were shared, addressing a wide range of issues such as the legal status of refugees, their rights, and the societal consequences of forced migration. Notably, contributions came from the Chian Association of Maryland (CAM), USA, alongside researchers from various institutions across India, enriching the discussions with both international and national perspectives.
