Kohima, March 7, 2020:

With the talks between the Government of Indian and the Isaak Muivah faction of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) teetering on the verge of a dramatic collapse, the rebel outfit has clarified that no 'talks' have been scheduled between the two sides in the near future. The rebels have also warned the Centre not to indulge in "terrorist activities", purportedly carried out by by its agencies such as the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

This comes in the wake of information carried in a regional media outlet that claimed that the parties will sit down once again for talks on March 9.

In a rejoinder to the press report, the militant outfit, via a communique issued by its Ministry of Information & Publicity has clarified that it has "no knowledge" of the proposed talks stated to be held on March 9 next in the national capital New Delhi.

In the rejoinder, Nagaland's most influential rebel body once again took a jibe at the Government's intelocutor R N Ravi, who has accused the rebels of misinterpreting the Framework Agreement signed in 2015. The NSCN in its press statement cautioned that the Government of India must be "very clear" about the position of its representative R N Ravi with regards to the Framework Agreement.

The rebels also lambasted the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and its agencies like the NIA "with terrorist activities" even after 22 years of Indo-Naga political negotiation that started on August 1, 1997. "The MHA is also advised not to put itself into baseless and pseudo position", the NSCN (IM) stated in its rejoinder.

The protracted talks between the NSCN (IM) and the Government, meanwhile, seem to have reached a stalemate, with the two sides seemingly at the loggerheads of separate Naga flag and Constitution. Moreover, the demand of a Pan Naga Hoho in all Naga-inhabited lands seems to be receiving mixed-reactions.
