ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDS NSCN(K) CADRES IN NAGALAND

Assam Rifles has claimed that its Kohima battalion apprehended two NSCN (K) cadres. The Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended a Deputy Secretary rank cadre of NSCN (K) named Ukehtho Z Chopy in Jail Colony, Kohima. The apprehended person revealed that he had been involved in carrying out extortion activities in Kohima and adjoining areas. The recoveries from the individual included 6 cash receipts of Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland and 2 letter pads of Office of the Urban Town Commander, NSCN (K). The accused along with the recovered items was handed over to South Police Station Kohima for further investigation.

In another incident, the Kohima battalion apprehended a Major of NSCN (K) identified as Kisheto Ayemi during an operation launched along with police representative in Naga Bazar area, Kohima. The accused revealed he had been involved in extortion activities in Kohima. Intelligence sources confirmed Kisheto Ayemi belongs to 7th Bn of NSCN (K) and had been town commander Kohima between 2013 and 2015. He has allegedly also been involved in firing incidents against SF at IG stadium, Puliebadze and Kohima town. The accused was also arrested by Zunheboto battalion of Assam Rifles in August 2015 for carrying illegal weapons. One cash receipt of GPRN, one letter pad of Kohima Town Commander, one PAN Card, one Driving License, one Aadhaar Card and Indian currency worth Rs 15,870/- in cash were recovered from him. He along with the recovered items was handed over to North Police Station Kohima for further investigation.
