Kohima, April 22, 2020:

Nagaland Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Kesonyu Yhome on April 22 informed that that the Department has been alerted by the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) that the Dimapur COVID-19 patient's 3rd test has returned a positive result.

Yhome further informed that the patient is now "stable" and has been transferred to an isolation ward. A fourth test is due in a few days.

The patient had tested positive at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Aril 12. Assam’s Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was the first to make the announcement via Twitter.

His COVID-19 positive status seems to have made the 33-year-old man from Nagaland’s commercial hub Dimapur “stateless”. The patient arrived from Kolkata by Air India Flight no 707, seat no 5B on March 24. According to official reports, he submitted a self declaration form to medical staff and was advised home quarantine for 14 days. Later, he was referred to Guwahati by the Zion hospital in Dimapur. After he tested positive, the hospital too was sealed off to contain the outbreak. Now, neither Nagaland nor Assam seem eager to add the Dimapur businessman to their tally of COVID cases.

Northeast Tally:

Assam: 35

Meghalaya: 12

Arunachal Pradesh: 1

Tripura: 2

Manipur: 2

Mizoram: 1

Nagaland: 1
