KOHIMA: The Nagaland Government on Thursday said that HQ EAC, Indian Airforce (IAF) has launched a Mi-17V5 helicopter. It is also informed that the helicopter is equipped with Bambi Bucket for fire fighting in Dzukou Valley near Kohima.
A fire broke out on Tuesday in the Southern part of Dzoukou Valley which is located at the borders of the states of Nagaland and Manipur in the Northeast Indian region.

On Wednesday, Nagaland Governor R N Ravi rushed to the Dzoukou Valley. The fire has engulfed much of the Southern Dzoukou region, setting the alarm bells ringing.
The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority years confirmed the incident, hours after locals uploaded videos of a burning Dzoukou on social media. Notably, Inside Northeast was the first media outlet to report on the disaster after sources on the ground informed about the fire raging in the Valley.
The Southern Angami Youth Association (SAYO), which has been working for the protection of the valley and issues restrictions from time to time, will be sending a delegation to the Dzoukou Valley.
According to sources in the area, the fire has already engulfed the Dzukou valley viewpoint and is heading towards the main Valley. The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.
