KOHIMA: Amid the stalemate in the Naga Peace Talks over the demand for a separate flag and Constitution, the Global Naga Forum (GNF) wrote to the United States’s White House appealing to President Joseph R. Biden and Vice President Kamala D. Harris "to understand the reality of the Naga people’s plight under suppression at the hands of the Government of India."
In its communique, the GNF pointed out the "suppressive mission of the military force of India that is in operation empowered by the military law, the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act/AFSPA which give unrestrained powers to the Indian Armed Forces to go against any civilians, meaning any person standing up for the Naga people’s right to political self-determination."
Commenting on the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks, the Global Naga Forum wrote, “There have been several failed Agreements and negotiations for a peaceful resolution of this long-standing Indo-Naga political problem. The latest one, which started in 1997, has been going on for over 23 years because the Indian government’s determination to divide the Nagas and deny us our human rights continues under the current Hindu-leaning BJP government.”

Meanwhile, the Isaak-Muivah faction of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) has expressed its displeasure over the BJP-led government's refusal to follow through with the Framework Agreement which was signed in 2015.
"The NSCN is not wrong when it is going absolutely livid; fuming at how the Government of India (GoI) is dithering over the Framework Agreement. More than five years, India is still undecided how to go about implementing the Framework Agreement in the spirit that was agreed upon. To keep the agreement hanging for over five years is a real test of patience for the NSCN in particular and for the Naga people in general. But NSCN showed remarkable endurance throughout," the rebel group recently voiced in an editorial in its mouthpiece 'Nagalim Voice.'
