Nagaland Deputy CM hands over Rs 1 cr to Kerala CM

Kohima (Nagaland), Aug 23, 2018:

A high-level delegation of Nagaland government led by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton reached Kerala’s Capital Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday and met its Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to hand over Rs 1 crore as contribution to the Kerala’s Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.

In a statement, the Deputy Chief Minister said Kerala has witnessed the century’s worst natural calamity and the delegation had arrived in the State to share the deeply-felt sympathy and solidarity of the people of Nagaland to every citizen of Kerala.

Expressing deepest condolences to the kin of those who perished in the floods, Patton also thanked all organisation and individuals who are involved in the ongoing relief and rescue operation in the State.

He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central government for declaring Kerala floods as a “Calamity of severe nature”.

Patton added that Naga people could feel the pain and agony of every citizen of Kerala in this hour of grief and distress as Nagaland too experienced torrential rainfall this monsoon, which triggered massive landslides that extensively damaged roads and bridges, besides many properties.
