Nagaland government has decided to distribute pen drives loaded with study materials among students of classes 5 to 12 residing in rural areas where poor network connectivity hampers their online education.

The educational institutions have remained closed in the country since March 15th, 2020 to arrest the spread of the country.

The schools and colleges, which have remained closed in view of COVID-19 pandemic, were likely to reopen only after August 2020. Around 33 crore students have been waiting for school reopening news to dispel their doubts. It was earlier expected that the schools and colleges would reopen in the month of July with attendance of 30% of students. It was also earlier stated that educational institutes would reopen shift-wise with smaller attendance and maintaining social distancing norms in Green and Orange zones.

However, as there has been no improvement in the COVID19 situation in the country, the Union HRD Ministry within a week announced that no decision was finalized on the reopening of the educational institutes.

As per reports, teachers would need to wear masks and gloves, thermal scanners would be installed in schools, only two students would sit on three-seaters, CCTVs would observe if social distancing rules are being followed.

Moreover, the safety guidelines would be printed and put up in several locations in each school and the SDM and DM of each concerned area would further fine-tune the Covid-19 safety guidelines as required.

It remains to be seen what the updated guidelines would be if schools reopen after August.
