The former NPP MP Hayithung Bill Lotha dashed off a letter to the Nagaland HTE & Tribal Affairs minister Temjen Imna Along raising objection over halting the delimitation process in the state.

“The recommendation that the minister purportedly wrote arguing against the delimitation process and halting it has ‘deeply aggravated and aggrieved’ the spirits of the Lakhs and Lakhs of ‘ethical and right thinking NAGA citizens’,” the former MP stated in the letter.

He, while accusing the Nagaland BJP president of insulting the Nagas, challenged for an ‘Open Challenge Public Debate’ on the Delimitation issue.

The Lotha Hoho and the Lotha Students’ Union also vehemently condemned the action of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Temjen lmna Along for recommending postponement of delimitation in Nagaland.

Lotha Hoho felt that president of Nagaland BJP and the chief minister had recommended the postponement on their own without the consent of party legislators or party leaders. LH has taken the stand of the duo and Ram Madhav as anti-Naga and with vested tribalistic interest against the general Naga interest.

The hoho stated that it would oppose the unfair and tribalistic attitude of the duo and invited all right thinking Nagas to condemn their action. The hoho also affirmed support to its earlier stand on delimitation.

Since the Delimitation Act was passed by the Indian Parliament, it stated that a party leader who opposes the ordinance of its own government in the like of Temjen lmna Along must be removed from office and taken disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, various organisations and political parties in Manipur has also joined their counterparts in Assam to oppose the notified exercise for the delimitation of electoral constituencies in some north-eastern states.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) and CPI (Marxist) filed a contempt petition at the High Court of Manipur against the Ministry of Home Affairs, Director of Census Operations and the Delimitation Commissioner of India for “willfully, deliberately and intentionally disobeying” a 2007 judgment of the Gauhati High Court against the method applied for the exercise.
