“A Hero is someone who has given his life to something bigger than oneself.” This quote aptly describes our martyrs. One such hero, late Major David Manlun, Kirti Chakra (posthumous) was remembered on 8 April as his bust was unveiled at Tizit, Mon district. His parents were present on this solemn occasion. The ceremony was attended by many military and civil dignitaries.
Besides representation by all the officers of civil administration, the Anghs and Village Chiefs of all the neighboring villages were present to pay their respect to the martyr.
Major David Manlun had laid down his life on 6 June, 2017, during an encounter with insurgents at Lapa village near Tizit.
Major David Manlun, a young Indian Army Major made the supreme sacrifice fighting terrorists on the night of 6/7 June 2017 on the road linking Oting and Tizit in Mon District in Nagaland. Mon is the Northern most District of Nagaland bordering Myanmar to the East and Arunachal Pradesh to the North. This place is generally along the routes of infiltration and exfiltration to/from Myanmar.
