NAGALAND: WE ARE NOT AGAINST THE CITIZENSHIP AMENDMENT BILL: NEPHIU RIO

In a meeting with Rajnath Singh, union home minster of India on 12th June, Rio the chief minister of Nagaland stated clearly that they are not against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. They will oppose the bill only if it stands against the interest of Nagaland. He demanded for the safeguard and perseverance of Article 371(A) and the also of Inner Line Permit (IPL) by virtue of which it protects the land of Nagaland.

The issue was raised in the Cabinet meeting of Nagaland held on 5th June where the Cabinet decided to oppose the bill if it diverges from the interest of Nagaland.

Thus it will be a matter to ponder over and see how united the Northeastern states stands in discarding the bill absolutely
