Northeast Indian Leaders Wish the Nation on Diwali

Guwahati, October 27, 2019:

Northeast Indian leaders from across the political spectrum have wished the people on the occasion of Diwali, which is one of the major festivals celebrated across India.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, taking to Twitter, wrote, "May this festival light our homes with love and may abundance flow into our lives. Let us remember to be caretakers of the environment we live in and be harbingers of peace in times of despair. Wishing the citizens of the State a happy and blessed".

Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju, meanwhile, appealed the people to celebrate the spirit of womanhood this Diwali. "Societies grow when women are empowered and their accomplishments are given a place of pride!", he wrote in a tweet.

Wishing the people on the occasion of Diwali, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal wrote, "let the festival of light fill our lives with happiness and contentment."

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, meanwhile, wished that this Diwali will bring "renewed hope" and brighten up lives and homes.

Wishing the people in Hindi, Manipur CM N Biren Singh hoped that the festival of lights will bring happiness and prosperity to the people.
