A short programme was held on Thursday at The Garden, Supermarket, Dimapur to emphasise on wearing of masks. The program aimed to launch a mask distribution project under the aegis of A Better Dimapur, an initiative under the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) that targets community participation in government initiatives.
The main USP of the program was the women empowerment and associated love as all the masks were stitched by local designers and mothers.
The reusable masks have been made through resources pooled in by members of the Better Dimapur Team and are to be distributed to members of the community. The masks are tailored by local tailors, thus helping a section of the community find employment during these trying times. The target is to produce at least 5000 masks for distribution. For the first phase, mask packages were handed out to Team Clean volunteers in the frontline, Drivers’ Union, Vegetable Vendors Union, Labourers’ Union, and to the quarantine centres in Dimapur.
