The Nagaland administration has been taking many steps to ensure that Music emerges as a viable career option in the Northeastern state. In keeping with this mission, the Government has appointed Theja Meru as the Advisor of the Music Task Force in the State.
This announcement was made by the State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio via his official Twitter handle. The Chief Minister wrote: "I extend my best wishes to Mr. Theja Meru in this new responsibility. We are hopeful that new initiatives and ideas in promoting music as an industry will create opportunities and vistas for our youth."
Theja Meru has earned many plaudits during his long and distinguished career. It may be mentioned that he a recipient of the Governor's award for Excellence in Music and Arts. He is also an alumnus of the US Government's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
He is also a winner of the 'Trailbrazer of the Decade' awarded by YouthNet.
It may be mentioned that Theja Meru is a musician and an entrepreneur. He was part of a band called 'Blood and Fire', a Chennai based band in the 90s. On Twitter, he describes himself as a "musician, entrepreneur, traveller, culture vulture, in love with Nagaland".
