In a significant political development, two senior leaders from Nagaland have officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Former Working President and Treasurer of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), Bobby Panicker, along with former Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, T Yangseo Sangtam, met with BJP National President JP Nadda in New Delhi on Monday.
This move is seen as a major boost for the BJP in the Northeast, further expanding the party's influence in the region. Anil Antony, BJP leader and spokesperson, highlighted the significance of the event. "Two very senior political leaders from Nagaland—Bobby Panicker, who served as NPCC's working president and treasurer, and T Yangseo Sangtam, former deputy speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly—have joined our party. They recently met with JP Nadda," Antony stated.
He further emphasized that the decision of these stalwart leaders to join the BJP was driven by their admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. "Inspired by the Prime Minister's work, more and more people in the Northeast are embracing the BJP," Antony added.
