16-Year-Old Muslim Boy Wins Quiz on 'Bhagwad Gita'

Guwahati, February 8, 2020:

Abdul Kagzi, a 16-year-old Muslim teenager has broken the barriers by winning the Bhagwad Gita quiz competition organised in Jaipur by Hare Krishna Mission in association with Akshay Patra Foundation.

Kagzi, whose father runs a grocery shop, surprised The judges by his immense knowledge regarding Sanskrit hymns and verses. This year, the subject was 'Knowing Shri Krishna'.

Kagzi outlasted over 5,000 students to win the coveted top price in the Bhagwad Gita quiz that lasted for two months.

After winning the prize, Kagzi revealed that his interest for Krishna developed while watching a cartoon series, 'Little Krishna'. His curiosity piqued, he later read a book written by Matura Nath on Krishna to know more about the Hindu God known for his ability to troubleshoot issues.

"My father allows me to follow my heart and has never shown any restriction towards any faith and practice. I have been using his mobile to study diverse facets of spiritualism", the winner, who is a student of Ducking Senior Secondary School, said.
