GUWAHATI: BSF troops on Thursday apprehended two Indian nationals along with 0.6 kilos of raw opium from the bordering area of West Bengal’s Coochbehar district.

Acting on tip off, troops of BSF BOP Doradabri under Guwahati Frontier launched a special operation in Doradabri under Mekhliganj Police Station of Coochbehar.

According to reports, BSF party stopped the suspicious Scorpio vehicle in front of Doradabri. The vehicle was plying from Jamaldah Market to Siliguri through State Highway-16.

During the search, BSF party observed one plastic bag which was kept in the backseat of the vehicle bearing No.BR-38-F-3090. When it was checked through drugs detection kit, it was detected as raw opium.

Saroj Kumar Mandal (29) and Tarun Kumar Roy (26), both residents of Forbesganj village, have been apprehended.

The apprehended narcotics smugglers along with seized raw opium and vehicle were handed over to Police Station for further legal action.
