5.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits PoK, Impact Felt in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi, September 24, 2019:

5.8 magnitude earthquake has hit Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Its impact was felt in parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) this afternoon.

As per the United States Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake was 140 kilometres from Srinagar at the depth of 10 kilometres.

Tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Kashmir, parts of Himachal as well as several towns in Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore and Khyber Pakhtun region.

The tremors, which lasted for a few seconds, were felt at around 4:35 pm recording 5.8 magnitude.

It may be mentioned that on July 28, an earthquake of magnitude 5.4 th at struck the Batanes islands in the Philippines by an aftershock of magnitude 5.9 on Saturday killed eight people and injured 60, disaster officials said. Another big aftershock struck a little later, according to Philippine government data.
