New Delhi, December 3, 2019:

Senior Advocate Rajeev Dhawan has been sacked from the Ayodhya case who appeared for the Sunni Waqf Board and other Muslim parties in the Supreme Court.

Rajeev Dhawan took it to his official Facebook account and posted, “Just been sacked from the Babri case by AOR [advocate on record] Ejaz Maqbool who was representing the Jamiat. Have sent a formal letter accepting the 'sacking' without demur. No longer involved in the review or the case.”

It is to be mentioned here that a review petition was filed on Monday in the Supreme Court against its ruling that pronounced construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The petition filed by Maulana Syed Ashhad Rashidi, a legal heir of original Ayodhya land dispute litigant. The petition said complete justice can be done in the case by ordering the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government to rebuild the Babri Masjid.

It is to be mentioned here that the SC verdict in November ordered a 5-acre plot be given to the Sunni Board by the government.

The judgement was given out by a five-judge bench led by the former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi. The court had awarded the 2.77-acre disputed land in Ayodhya to Ram Lalla Virajman, the child deity.
