Ayodhya Verdict: RSS Leader Mohan Bhagwat Lauds SC Decision, Appeals for 'Communal Harmony'

New Delhi, November 9, 2019:

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday weighed in on the Supreme Court's verdict on the contested Ayodhya land issue.

Addressing the press, Sarsanghalak Mohan Bhagwat said that the verdict should be seen as neither a victory or a defeat. Bhagwat urged the people to keep their emotions in check and called for communal harmony. Bhagwat also said that we should end the "doubts" and the "quarrels" over the issue.

Welcoming the decision of the apex Court, Bhagwat said that the Supreme Court took the decision after weighing all the factors, and recalled the martyrs of the nation. He also thanked the people of the nation for waiting with bated breaths for the decision.

Responding to a question of whether the 5 acres of land allotted to the Muslims should be located within Ayodhya itself, Bhagwat said, "We don't have any opinions on that, it is the decision of the Supreme Court, it is for them to decide. We are only concerned with the building of the temple."

The historic “Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid” title dispute finally came to an end today as the Supreme Court verdict gave its nod for the construction of Ram Mandir.

The historic judgement was made by a five-judges bench led by Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi. The bench also included justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer.

A total of 2.77-acre land has been given to the Hindu parties by the Supreme Court with a trust to be formed by the Centre to monitor the construction of a Ram Mandir.

The Sunni Waqf Board will get 5 acres of alternate land, which will be accorded either by the state or the Centre.
