Union Minister for Animal Husbandry Giriraj Singh on Saturday said the government plans to introduce "sex-sorted semen" technology to ensure that more female calves are born, so as to increase farmers' income.
The minister made this confusing statement while speaking at a product launch event organised by Mother Dairy.
"In the coming days, through insemination, the calves that will be born would only be female ones, through (doses of) sex-sortedsemen," Giriraj Singh said.
"We'll use IVF technology from cows giving 20 litres milk, on cows which stop giving milk. We'll bring revolution", he promised.
The BJP leader also promised to open up a "factory" for birthing cows.
The minister said that such technologies will economically benefit the farmers, however, he did not explain how exactly the Government hopes to bring these ideas to fruition.
Recently, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ranjit Shrivastava cows are Hindus in UP and their last rites shall not be done according to Muslim ritual. According to Ranjit Shrivastava, the dead cows should not be burried since it is a Muslim ritual. He said that there should be an electric crematorium for dead cows.
Ranjit Shrivastava also proposed that dead bodies of cows should be wrapped in white and put in a traditional Hindu pyre.
