Amid rising tensions between the two neighboring countries after the abrogation of the Article 370A which provided special constitutional safeguards to Kashmir, Pakistani soldiers have once again tried to infiltrate the Indian part of Kashmir.
The incident was reported from the Machchal Sector in Kupwara district of Jammu in Kashmir.
According to reports, the Pakistani soldiers tried to infiltrate the Indian side at approximately 2:30 am on 6 August. The gunfight broke out about 500 m from the border.
Intruders on own side of LOC engaged(500 m inside). Security sources have said that the strength of the group of intruders was 5-6.
During the exchange of fire, one soldier was injured. The injured jawan has been evacuated and is now stable.
Indian army officials said that there has been a desperate attempt to revive terrorism and push terrorists from the Jaish-e-Mohammed and other terrorist groups in Kashmir.
It may be mentioned that internet services have been suspended in the valley amid fears of terrorist attacks. Moreover, a curfew-like situation has been imposed in capital city Srinagar.
