The streets of Delhi once again echoed with slogans of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ on Friday. People rallied chanting ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ from the Jama Masjid towards the Jantar Mantar to express their disapproval of the Citizenship act.

Led by Bhim Army’s Chief, Chandrashekhar Azad, hundreds of people from all walks of life took part in the protest rally that started soon after the Friday prayers from Jama Masjid. The Anti-CAA protesters flaunted the Tricolor and walked towards Jantar Mantar with ‘Save Constitution’ slogans. They also carried pictures of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh during their protest.

It may be mentioned here that the police had earlier denied permission to carry out a protest march on Friday. The people took to the streets despite prohibitory orders and participated in the CAA protest. The police had also tried to detain Chandrashekhar Azad at Jama Masjid but he managed to get away, only to be detained later near Daryaganj.

As many as 13 metro stations were shut following the large-scale protests against the incendiary C(A)A on Friday. Students of Jawharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Jamia Millia Islamia University among others have been vehemently opposing the Act.
