Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad arrived in Srinagar on Friday
Azad's visit comes days after the Supreme Court granted permission to the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha to travel to Jammu and Kashmir. He will now become the first political leader to visit several districts in the disturbed state after the abrogation of Article 370.
The leader, reportedly, will begin his tour today and over the next few days, he would visit several districts of the state.
Azad would also meet street vendors during his visit to enquire about the state-of-affairs in the region.

Recently, Azad was not allowed to enter Srinagar and Jammu, and was sent back by authorities from the airport on both occasions.
It may be recalled that Azad was also a part of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's entourage when the Gandhi scion had attempted, in vain, to enter Jammu after the abrogation of Article 370. After the opposition leaders were sent back from the Srinagar airport, they had informed media back in New Delhi that the situation in the Valley is indeed very grim.
