New Delhi, August 7, 2019:

Congress leader Manish Tewari on Tuesday found out how harsh the world of the internet can be after he found himself the target of Twitter trolls after mentioning popular 2011 romance novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey' while speaking in Lok Sabha during a debate on Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident began after the Congress leader had made a speech, and party President Amit Shah asked him to clarify whether Congress party is against or in support of the abrogation of Article 370.

To this, he said: ""Ek angrezi ki kitaab hai, har cheez kali aur safed nahi hoti, (there is an English novel, everything is not in black and white) there are fifty shades of grey in between."

"As soon as Manish Tewari mentioned 50 Shades of Grey, the whole country now on Google", one user said, while another quizzed " "what was Manish Tewari thinking in mind while saying this?"

It is to be mentioned that Fifty Shades of Grey is a 2011 erotic romance novel by British author E. L. James. It became the first instalment in the Fifty Shades novel series that follows the deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young business magnate, Christian Grey.
